ENDURANCE
The Chain Reaction to Success
By Leanne Hoagland-Smith, M.S.
ow often does one fail
and internally suffer
from situations that
are within our control?
This is especially true
for small business
Howners.
Endurance creates a chain reaction
within one’s mental and physical
psyche as noted in the words of William
Barclay, who said, “Endurance is not
just the ability to bear a hard thing, but
to turn it into glory.”
When people “suck it up” during
those situations, he/she is demonstrating
endurance: going the extra mile.
From that endurance, one builds
upon one’s character. This creates an
understanding that moving forward
can strengthen one’s moral resolve.
The Roman poet Virgil understood
this idea when he stated, “Come what
may, all bad fortune is to be conquered
by endurance.”
Strengthening one’s moral resolve
produces hope. Yes, hope is a strategy,
and more importantly, a spark to light
our path forward. One will see what he/
she previously failed to see and may
appreciate what he/she potentially lost.
