ON THE MEND

Patrick McCaslin ovid-19 created new challenges for the hotel
C industry. Hotel managers were forced to
furlough or lay off their cherished employ-
ees, operate their hotels with a skeleton crew,
and implement new sanitation protocols to survive the
reduced demand caused by the pandemic.
However, the hotel industry is on the mend. The
Covid-19 vaccine is finally making travel possible and,
after being trapped in their homes for more than a year,
people are desperate to get out and have some fun. As
a result, leisure demand has been the primary driver of
hotel room nights during 2021.
